Slick is a stunning black homozygous tobiano stallion producing wonderful foals, with the bonus of guaranteed color on them all. He is quite an accomplished performance horse and sire, holding his APHA Superior in Heading (59 points to date), ROM in Heeling (43 points to date), and ROM in Steer Stopping (41 points to date). In 2001, Slick was ranked 7th in the Nation in Heading and 8th in the Nation in Heeling, ridden by World Champion Roper J.D. Yates. Slick is sire of a Nevada Halter Champion, and also sire of the #1 Cowhorse/Performance Halter Horse in Austria. He currently has 96 APHA registered foals, and is a 2004 Breeders Trust Program stallion.
Slick stands 15.2 hands high and weighs 1200 pounds. He has tested negative for the lethal white gene, so overo/tovero and other LWO positive mare owners can feel comfortable in choosing Slick to breed their mares. In Slick, you will find not just guaranteed color, but great cow sense and athletic ability, good size and conformation/build, versatility, and a wonderful disposition, all of which he is passing to his foals! He is still being conditioned and shown, competing in ropings whenever possible, and has moved with his trainer up to cooler country (Flagstaff AZ) for the summer
Slick’s granddam on bottom Pattys Puff was a Reining Point Earner, daughter of Halter Point Earner / Race Point and Money Earner Merle Haggard (by Race ROM / Leading Sire Mardelle Dixon). Also on Slick’s papers is ROM Hunter Under Saddle / Halter Point Earner Tinky Sugar Bar. Fourth generation is APHA Reserve National Champion / Superior Halter Horse Top Billing. Slick’s extended pedigree includes such greats as Sugar Bars, Three Bars, Hard Twist, Music Mount, Two Eyed Jack, Poco Pine, Eternal Sun, Mr Bar None, Oklahoma Star, Top Deck, Joe Reed, Peppy, and a number of other fine horses.
